How to find the code your Sky remote is using
It can be useful to have a note of the code that your sky remote is using as you might need to reprogramme it. e.g. Your remote goes faulty and you have to programme a new one or the batteries go and your remote loses the code.
This procedure is used to establish which three digit code has been programmed into the Sky Remote. It is useful to find out which code is being used so that the same code can be re-entered when batteries are replaced or the RCU loses the memory settings for any reason.
Press the TV button on the Sky Remote Control Unit.
Press and Hold down the Select and Red buttons simultaneously on the Sky RCU until the LED blinks (flashes) twice.
Press the numbers 9,9,0 on the Remote Control Unit.
Key in 1 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the first digit of the code.
Key in 2 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the second digit of the code.
Key in 3 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the third digit of the code.
(Key in 4 on the RCU and count the number of times the LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the fourth digit of the code.)
How to check the condition of your Sky remote's batteries
To avoid your remote losing its settings its best to replace the batteries before they get too low. The latest software download does activate a low batt warning on screen but if you have not got this then the info below will show you how to check them.
Press and hold the vol + / - (plus/minus) button on the minus position.
Before releasing ensure that you watch the front panel of the digibox carefully.
Release your finger off the - (minus) button and check if a red remote command light flashed on the front panel of the digibox at the point you released your finger:
If a light came on then the digibox is indicating that the batteries are too low. (Change the batteries within 8 minutes of removing the old ones, the remote control settings will be retained)
If a light did not come on then either:
The batteries are in good condition (Operates Sky functions ok i.e. Sky Guide, Services etc. but perhaps not volume on TV
or
The batteries are so low that they are not supplying any power at all to the remote control. (Check that the red light at the front of the remote control is flashing each time a button is pressed.) If it is believed that the batteries are completely dead then not only will they need to be replaced but the remote control will also need to be reset.
